We’re pleased to share that the Kaitiaki Ranger (Fixed‑term, full‑time) roles as part of the Hēteri Ā Nuku programme are now live and open for applications.

This is a one‑year, work‑based opportunity with Te Papa Atawhai – Department of Conservation, designed to nurture and inspire the next generation of Kaitiaki o te taiao, grounded in tikanga Māori and practical conservation mahi.

The Hēteri Ā Nuku programme supports emerging Māori leaders into conservation careers through:

  • Academic learning and recognised qualifications
  • Hands‑on field and corporate conservation experience
  • Personal development, leadership, and work readiness
  • Tailored learning pathways aligned to individual aspirations

Roles are based in Kerikeri / Pēwhairangi / Bay of Islands, Napier, Gisborne, and Tauranga, with consideration given to nearby locations for the right candidates.
